Default Maytag washer not spinning properly

Hi!

I have a Maytag Legacy series washer (about 3-5 years old) and is not spinning properly. The agitator is working fine, but the spin cycle is not spinning as fast as it used to and the clothes are soggy when the spin cycle is completed. All of the water seems to be draining properly, but the clothes are soggy. I removed the front panel and ran the spin cycle to see if everything looked ok, and the belt still looks brand new, the pulleys seem to be working ok, however the drum just isn't spinning fast enough. The first part of the spin cycle seems to work ok, but then slows down and at one point, there was a click and the motor and belt kept running but the drum stopped spinning. there is also some slight clicking and grinding noises when the spin cycle starts. It is not loud or anything, but I never noticed those noises before. I also checked to be sure there was no oil leaks that would cause the belt to slip, and there was not. Any ideas???

Thanks!

Hi,

Whats the model# of your washer? Its located either inside the lid or top console.

Does the water drain out within 90 seconds when its in the spin cycle?

Possibly you have either something partially jamming the water pump, or your thrust bearing is bad.

Thanks for the reply! Here is the additional info requested:

Model #: SAV515DEWW
The water does drain out properly, not sure if it takes 90 seconds or not, but all of the water is gone, however the clothes are soggy.

Ok, on this model you don't have that thrust bearing.

It sounds like you have a transmission problem. You have a 5 yr. warranty on your transmission from Maytag.

Contact Maytag to have a tech. come out.

Here is the transmission for your model:

Thanks Jake! Can I just have Maytag send me a transmission and install it myself?

Nope, you can ask, but I seriously doubt they will do that.
