Unhappy Jenn Air D120 overheating

Bought older home with D120, was working fine, then seemed to lose control of ability to regulate temp. First was with one of the cooktop burner elements and now includes the oven. Can set to warm and it gets to broil temp. I am fairly handy, looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Is the 1 cooktop element still doing it, or did you fix that?

For the oven its likely your oven thermostat thats bad.

This unit is very old, I don't recommend dropping alot of money into it, as other parts are wearing as well.

Here's the oven thermostat for your model:
Manufacturer part number 700158 is RepairClinic item number 688850
700158

The one cooktop element is still doing it, is that just an element replacement issue? I saw the thermostat for about $100 and just debating on putting a little into it, or starting fresh. Thanks.

No, if the cooktop element is overheating too and you can't control it, then it would also be the thermostat for that which is called the infinite switch.

Here's the one for your model:
Manufacturer part number 700855K is RepairClinic item number 2640
700855K

Got replacement thermostat today, is there somewhere I can find the steps the access the culprit. I have started to "explore" the route I might need but have very tight access due to the island it is in. Would greatly appreciate any tips. Thanks in advance.

Were you able to change it? Some can be a nightmare if its installed really tight in your kitchen island.
