Default Maytag Dispenser Light staying on cant get ice or water

hi, I have a Maytag side by side door refrigerator. The ice maker wasn't properly working. There was ice frozen in the tube that fills icemaker trays... I got that all cleared. I also decided to replace the water filter. you're supposed to run the water a few times before using it for drinking or for the ice.. I did this with no problem. Then about 10 minutes later, the light on the dispenser started to blink and then just stayed on. Now I cant even get any water from the dispenser. Its like the dispenser has locked me out from doing anything. Ive tried locking and unlocking the board but that didnt work. Any suggestions?? I just dont get how it was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped. Is there a reset or something?

Hi,

Whats the model# of your refrigerator? Its located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

Did you try unplugging your refrigerator for 5 minutes to see if it will reset?

The model number is MSD2456DEB

on the top of the freezer door. I unplugged it there... and kept that unplugged for 5 minutes...... is there a difference if I unplug it from the wall?

Thanks, Please also post the serial# of your refrigerator as they make 2 different dispenser control boards for your model.

That should be fine. Ok, since you let it reset and it didn't fix it, then its likely you have a bad dispenser board. Once you post your serial# I can give you the dispenser board link.

Thanks,

No, I'm sure why it stopped working all of a sudden, but I've seen those boards do that before many times, just out of the blue go haywire.

Here's the cheapest dispenser board I found for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: 61005002
