Default Maytag PYE3300AYW Electric Dryer Heating Element

Hi, I have the Performa PYE3300AYW dryer whcih came with this house 8 yrs ago, so no idea how old it is. It stopped heating a few weeks ago, so I researched and bought a new heating element. Now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access to replace the part. Everything states to open front panel and lift cover, but there are no screws anywhere on front panel. I have pulled it away from the wall in order to access the back panel. Before I remove the many screws I figured I better seek advise as to if this is the way to access heating element to replace? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

You don't need to remove the front panel assemly to change your heating element.

Here's a help link with photos:

Get the top up on the dryer. Service the heater, high limit, and thermal fuse from here with the top up. Check the heater, high limit thermostat, and the thermal fuse with an ohm meter. All should show continuity. Remember to always remove the wires from the part you are checking with an ohm meter.

Next picture is the heater. It is located on the left rear of the drum in a housing. The thermal fuse and the high limit thermostat are also located here. The thermal fuse on this dryer shuts the motor down when it is blown.

The thermal fuse should be fine since the dryer is still running, but just not heating.

Reemember unplug your dryer or turn the breaker off to it before changing it!

Here's the heating element for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: LA-1044

Default Thank you Jake

of course I found all that AFTER I posted my question. A little force lifted the top (wasn't sure about the force part until I saw the picture) and I had everything replaced within 5 minutes. Thank you so much for that information, My dryer is drying and I am pretty tickled with myself being an appliance challenged female. Thanks again. I will definately bookmark this forum.
