Question [FIXED] Maytag Performa, PYE2000AYW keeps blowing thermal limiter

I have a Maytag Performa that will not continue to run. It dried a couple of loads and then wouldn't run any more. When I checked, I found the thermal limiter was blown. I replaced the thermal limiter and the high limit thermostat and it ran fine for several loads. Then the same thing happened again. So I replaced the thermal limiter and high limit thermostat again, and again it ran for several loads and then the same problem.

What am I failing to see here? Everything else checks out ok with an ohm meter.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hi,

The main reason the thermal fuse go bad is poor air flow/vent restriction.

Did you check your outside dryer vent for clogs?

Also pull your dryer away from the wall and check your exhaust hose to make sure thats not full of lint either and make sure the exhaust hose isn't kinked or crushed.

Sorry this has been so long in coming. The dryer was being overloaded, and the wet clothes were blocking the air flow to the filter inside the dryer. When she put less clothes in, it worked fine. Thanks Jake for the insight.
