Default [FIXED] Maytag MSD2454GRW Not freezing or cooling hear clicking.

My 2454 GRW side/side Maytag is not freezing or cooling the refrigeration area either. I cleaned what I thought were the coils, (area on rear covered by cardboard) of dirt etc. I turned the unit back on and could hear a clicking sound. (I dont recall hearing it before, but wasnt really paying attention). I opened the freezer door to pinpoint the clicking and noticed that the blower on the freezer stopped...(it had only been a few minutes). Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help,

Ike

Hi Ike,

Ok, that clicking sound is likely your compressor start relay assembly, its mounted on the side of your compressor.

Whats the serial# of your refrigerator? as they make 2 different ones for your model.

Its #4 here:

Unplug your refrigerator, then pull it away from your wall, then take off the back access panel#21 then you will see it mounted on the side of your compressor.

Take it off and shake it, if it rattles its bad.

Default Stuck

How is the relay attached? I took the harness off and tried to gently pull the relay from the compressor with no luck. I dont want to force anything and cause more damage.

Talking Works

Got the part and got it in. It didnt start right away which had me concerned, but I heard a timer at the on/off switch that kind of reminded me of the timer sound from the game of Perfection. After a minute or two it fired up and we are back in business. Thanks!
