Default [FIXED] Admiral refrigerator not cooling properly

model # AS22N8D It's a side by side. The freezer is working fine. The refrigerator isn't as cool as it should be. The milk, drinks, etc aren't cold like they were. Everything is staying somewhat cool, but it's turned up all of the way, and it's just not like it was. Any ideas?

Hi,

I'd first check your evaporator coils inside your freezer behind the back access panel, If the evaporator coils are all frosted up then turn your defrost timer clockwise to set it in the defrost cycle.

The defrost timer on your model is #17 here:

Behind the light shield that just pulls off.

Then that should make the defrost heater come on.

The defrost heater is #20 here:

The defrost thermostat is #30.

If the defrost doesn't come on, then thats possibly bad.

You will need a volt/ohm meter, you can get a cheap one at Radio Shack. I usually find the defrost heaters bad about 75% of the time, so I would ohm them first for continuity.

Make sure you unplug your refrigerator first.

Your defrost timer:
Manufacturer's Number: 68233-3

Your defrost thermostat:
Manufacturer's Number: 52085-29

Your defrost heater:
Manufacturer's Number: 61001846

Let us know what you find.

Jake

hahaa, maybe next time, if your compressor ever goes out, then you will be enjoying the fresh new smell of a new refrigerator.
