Default Maytag Ice Maker

I am looking for help with my Maytag Ice Maker (part # D7824706Q). For the last two years, it continues to get stuck and will not spit out the cubes. Initially I had it cleaned, then I had it completely replaced. It started acting up again, so I had it leveled and and the water supply cut down (so the cubes wouldn't be so big). It has continued to act up so I had the water fill valve replaced. Is there anything left I haven't placed. I'm getting close to the cost of a new refrigerator.

Hi,

Whats the model# of your refrigerator? Its located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

Did you verify you have good water pressure from your water supply line to the water inlet valve in the back, but taking that line off and getting a bucket or container to catch the water in to test the pressure flow, should be a real strong flow with lots a water pressure behind it.

Default Maytag Ice Maker

Jake-

Thank for getting back to me.

The model # is MZD2766GE. I'll try to test the water pressure when my wife clears out of the kitchen!

The problem always consists of the ice maker making a "clicking" or "grinding" noise. Then it couldn't "spit-out" the cubes.

Also feel inside your ice maker to make sure all the cube slots are full of ice, and not just a few.

I had the same problem with a replacement ice maker I put in mine. Not long ago it quit alltogether. I just assumed it was the ice maker itself so I went to Lowes and bought a kit that came with the same style but had a bucket I couldn't use and a single water solenoid. The fingers that eject the cubes in the first one I bought were flimsy and flexible. The one that came in the kit I got from Lowes had ridgid fingers with a gusset molded into the back of them. That unit solved my sticking problem but the ice maker wasn't why it quit making ice.

The reason my unit had stopped working was actually the water solenoid. I ordered one of those through a local Maytag dealer. I needed a double solenoid for the water dispenser and the single that came in the kit I bought could not be used.

I'm still glad I misdiagnosed the problem and replace the ice maker again cause it was getting on my nerves sticking once a week.

When you replace the ice maker be sure it has the amber colored fingers with the gussets molded in. Not the white colored flimsy fingers.
