Default Maytag Performa no aggitate/no spin

Maytag model# PAV2300AWW fills just fine but then will not aggitate even though there is motor noise and if i look underneath it is running while in the wash cycle.
Then while in spin cycle it empties out the water just fine but will not spin.
I read alot of the forums on your site and everyone with the same problem seems to have changed the Thrust Bearing. So i bought a kit and changed that. It still did not aggitate but it was spinning now! That only lasted two times then it stopped spinning again - and of coarse still no aggitation either.
Please help....have i just wasted $75?

Hi,

Check the motor pivot spring, there is a white plastic slide foot mounted on the motor, that pivots with the direction the motor turns, if that slide foot pad is dry or dirty, it won't pivot correctly with a load in it, causing a no agitation issue/slow/no spin issue.

In this image #1 is the pivot spring, #3 is the slide foot:

The pivot spring puts tension on the motor mount clutch.

I have seen that motor pivot spring plate get dirty and dry and cause that pivot plate not to make a smooth pivot transaction when the motor reverses to agitate or spin.

Try to lubricate that motor pivot plate when a compound like Sil-glyde lubricant, you can order or get at any appliance parts store in your area.

Default Sil-glyde

Thanks for responding Jake. Since i had read most of your forums, when i went out to buy the thrust bearing kit i also picked up some sil-glyde at the appliance parts place. I lubed that plate even though it was not dirty and even though it had been sliding freely before appling the lube.
Any other possibilities?

The top of the washer lifts up like a car hood after two clips between the top and the front panel are pushed with a putty knife. Once the top is flipped open, the screws that hold the front panel in place at the top can be removed and the panel lifted off. The belt may be bad or something may be stopping the belt like a bad pump. Or the transmission drive pulley and bearing may be going bad. If the bearings above the transmission drive pulley fail the brake will not release correctly in the spin cycle causing weak, slow or no spin. The belt & pulley system can be accessed by tipping the washer back. The belt is routed around all three pulleys under the washer and is fairly loose until the motor starts. It is the torque of the motor that gives the belt tension. Leaking or loud "jet engine" sound in spin indicates a bad main tub seal at the outer tub which has caused the spin bearing to fail. This is a complicated repair as the inner and outer tubs need to be removed from the washer to access and replace the seal and bearing components.
