Default Machine Not Letting out water.

Maytag Washing Machine
Model # MAV6451AGW

What causes this machine not to let out water?
Where on the machine to correct the fault?

Check the water pump, I see things get jammed or stuck in there and cause it not to drain.

There is a rectangular box under the heading"open position".There are two sets of circles with a line drawn between each. What does this symbol represent and how does it work.

If the line drawn touches both circles that means its a closed circuit(continuity), if the line drawn only is on the one circle and not on the other circle, then its a open circuit(no continuity).
