Angry Message on a Neptune "did not spin due to a continous unbalance. If the problem persists call...."

Model Number: MAH7500AWW
Brand: Maytag
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Maytag Neptune model number MAH7500AWW. We bought it new in 2002. I have had almost no problems with it, until now.

Recently, I am getting an error message on the LCD touch-screen display ( during the spin cycle) that says:

"The washer did not spin due to a continuous unbalance. If the problem persists, please call 1-888-..."

However, this does not happen all of the time. It is intermittent to say the least. If I take out the clothes and wring most of the water out of them, I can usually get it to spin. Not always, but say 3 times out of 5. Sometimes, I do not see the error at all.

All of the other cycles seem to work just fine, just this frickin' spin cycle.

Any helpful hints? I have had this washer for almost 8 years now, and I really like it - until now. I have heard that this model is problematic, but this is the first issue I have had with it.

Anyone have any advice for me?

Glen

Hi Glen,

So its draining the water fine, but not spinning all the time?

Whats the serial# of your washer?

With all the problems of the Neptune's, its likely you will need to change the motor assembly to the upgraded motor conversion kit.

Here's the motor conversion kit for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 12002039

12002039

You may be able to get this for free, read here:
Do NOT pay for the Neptune Motor Conversion Kit 12002039

Unhappy Matag Neptune

Hello;

Same problems again - it went away ( the never reaching the spin cycle speed) and the message on the screen.

Where would be a good place to start?

Unhappy Oh yes

Hey Jake;

Yes, the issue was intermittent back then - now it is always happening.

Maytag Neptune model number MAH7500AWW - serial number is 74808153ZW.

Sorry, I did not notice that you had asked for it the last time I posted!

Hey, I grabbed the service manual that you had posted, but would you happen to have one for my particular make and model?

Unless you have seen these exact symptoms before and know that the motor is the "quick fix" - like every other SOB today, I am poor and don't really want to shell out $300-$500 for the local 'Gordon Jump' to come to the house! Unless this is a really big and nauseating job that requires lots of experience with this sort of thing.

Thanks

Glen

Unhappy "..Glen's gonna need a new Motor..."

Hello Jake;

Thanks much for the reply! I will have to have an optical bollicking at the repair/service manual for that. I thank you much for that as well.

I was wondering - what kind of a job is that? Is this something that one could do easily or is this a really big job (lots of cursing, swearing, sweating, throwing tools, you know the sort...).

I am sure you have done this sort of thing yourself so this is why I ask.

Thanks

Glen

Ok Glen, This is what I tell my other members:
If you've fixed other things around your house, then its something you can likely change out.

Now I know some folks are not mechanically inclined, but good at other things like gardening, etc. which is fine, because I couldn't grow anything if I tried.

Even for us that are mechanically inclined, there is always some cursing, swearing, sweating, throwing tools. But when you finish the job, the celebration crosses all that out with JOY & SATISFACTION.

Unhappy No meaning to flog a dead horse....

Okay Jake - thanks for the reply.

I just want to make sure you and I are on the EXACT same page and nothing is lost in the translation:

Maytag Neptune model number MAH7500AWW - serial number is 74808153ZW.
The washer fills, washes, rinses and empties - but WILL NOT spin. When it attempts to go into the spin cycle, it beeps 3 short beeps then the display shows:

"...did not spin due to a continous unbalance. If the problem persists call...."

This is the result of the bad motor, which was for mentioned by yourself. Correct?

I don't mind getting this if I have to - to keep the sanity, but I like to do things only twice instead of 5 or 6, if you get my drift.

Thanks again.

Glen

Yes Glen it will fix it or your money back, hows that sounds?

But, something I don't understand, why would you pay for a new motor when you can get a free one?

Did you not read what I posted here:
