I have a Maytag Neptune gas dryer MDG4000BWW and it takes a long time for the clothes to dry. I've observed the gas-on/gas-off cycle. The gas is on for 20-25 seconds and is off for 1 min. 20 seconds. This applies to all settings: Timed Dry, IntelliDry, etc. Is this on/off gas cycle normal or are sensors or coils bad?

Before I recommend buying parts for it, I always want to make sure you don't have a vent restriction where your dryer vents to the outside of your house.

Pull your dryer away from the wall, then take the exhaust vent hose off, then dry a normal load to see if it fixes it, open some windows if you have the dryer inside your house to let the hot/warm air out.

If it still does the same thing with the exhaust vent off, then yes, you would need new gas coils.
