Default admrial asd2514arw starter relay wiring

Have a admrial asd2514arw that needs a new starter relay. The new one does not look like the old one, even the spade lugs are a different size. My question is which wire goes where. the fridge has two orange wires that are connected together, a blue wire and a white wire, the relay has four connection lugs. any ideas? can send a picture if needed??

Ok, on your model, they make 2 different ones depending upon the serial# of your refrigerator.

Whats the serial# of your refrigerator?

Whats the part# of the new one you have now?

Default wiring

ok jake thanks for the pn. I ordered both, now the hard part, how are they wired up to the relay since the old relay does not look like the new relay.

I have three wires, which terminals on the relay do I hook the wires to??? I cam trace back, just tell me for instance that the starter motor winding goes here, power here etc

It shows you on the repair manual page 2-6 here:
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16010154.pdf
Looks like Blue goes to your overload device, then orange goes to the bottom right side terminal, and white goes from the capacitor to the left or right top terminals.

Can you upload or link a photo of yours, so I can see the difference?

wow the manual thats great. I no longer have the original relay, it was a larger white square. once I get the parts I will take a photo and mark each terminal as well as a pic of the fridge wiring. I expect a relay to have a coil when energized makes or breaks contacts, but i do not see that in the schematic. so is this a relay or a different type of device?

This type doesn't use a coil.

Default relay part

Here is a picture of the relay, can you tell me what wire goes where. If you have time can you explain how this device works?

Ok, first mount your white overload device on your compressor, then mount the relay on.

Orange goes to the bottom right side terminal(#4), and white goes from the capacitor to the left top terminal(#1).

You won't need to use the #2 terminal.
