Default Maytag MZD2766GEW

I have a maytag MZD2766GEW. I think its about 4 years old. I got it already installed in a house that I bought last year.
Last summer, the refrigerator side stopped working, no cooling at all while freezer was working fine after I tried to set the temperatue from 6 to 8 in the fridge section. after a while i realized it had stopped working so we played arounf with the temperature dial for a while and then it started working.
I had forgotten all that and 2 days ago I tried to set the temperature from 6 to 8 again and it stopped working. Freezer side is working fine. but no cooling in the fridge part. and tried moving the temparture dial pin to various numbers but it just does not start.....
I looked on some threads here and tried to see if i have any ice frosen in any part of fridge or freezer but i dont see anything... where should i look next? what can cause this? any ideas?

a repair guy was at my house to see my water heater and when I talked to him ahout this he said that he thinks we left the fridge door opened for sometimes (not shut properly) and this has caused frosting... and we should let it defrost, shut power and open doors and it should be fine once everything is melted... i am going to try taht but any other ideas are welcome!
Thanks,
Carpdiem

Hi,

I would take the food out of the freezer and take the selves out and take off the lower back panel inside the freezer and check your evaporator coils to make sure they aren't all frosted up. Normal is just a thin layer of frost on ALL the coils.

Maytag did have alot of issues with the Adaptive defrost control board, you may want to read this thread, it explains all about it:
[FIXED] Maytag Refrigerator Model MSD2756DEB is not cooling properly

Let me know what you find.

Jake

ok i took the back panel out in the freezer and it was frosted very heavily... i let it defrost with a hair dryer and put the panel back. and started the refrigerator. do u know what causes that thick frost? do i need to replace the adaptive defrost board? I cant seem to find it in the refrigerator... where is it located?

Its located inside the top console inside your refrigerator section that mounts to the inside refrigerator ceiling, that console will drop down, then you can change it.

Here's the adaptive defrost control board for your model, you can order:
Manufacturer part number 61005988 is RepairClinic item number 948430
61005988

Here's the repair manual for your model:

Page 2-14 tells you how to replace it.
