imidazol97 is on a distinguished road
Default MSD2456GEQ Maytag

The drain under the evaporator froze up again about a year since it first froze. Last year I cleared it pushing something through to clean it.

Is there a fix to the problem. I don't know if it was ice or something else stopping it up and forming the ice. What can I do to keep it from freezing?

Also the putty layer covering the bulb in the freon line above the evaporator coils fell off. Is that an item that needs to be on the bulb above the coils? I squeezed it back in place.

Hi,

When I looked up your model# it said Maytag, not Whirlpool, so I moved it here to the Maytag forum.

I'm not exactly sure why your defrost drain clogged/froze up again, usually when I clean them out, I never have to go back and do it again. I usually pour a little bleach down the defrost drain to keep it clear.

No, its not necessary, i see alot of putty fall off on all different brands of refrigerators. Actually that putty I've seen fall off and clog the defrost drain, so its probably better to just leave it off.
