Default Maytag (Jenn-Air) JSD2789AEW Freezer Fine/No refrigeration

My side-by-side refrigerator is not cooling in the refrigerator area (temperature = 50+ degrees); however, the freezer appears to be fine expect for an accumulation of frost on the bottom back wall. When I took off the cover, the coils were covered with ice. I have discussed this matther with appliance savvy friends. One thinks we need to replace the Evaporator Fan Motor (P/N: 61004888). The other thinks we need to replace the Adaptive Defrost Assembly (P/N: 61005988). Is one solution more likely than the other? Or is another solution possible? I'd appreciate any advice you all could offer.

Thanks!

Jim

Default

ADC (Adaptive Defrost Control) is **generally** the issue on these....you can force a defrost by jumping L1 and Test on the board.

Some general info on how an automatic defrost works at:

Also, a little info on adaptive defrost controls at:

Default Fountain has now died...

Thanks for the information. Now my fountain has died. When I press actuator pad, the green "crush" light comes on...but nothing comes out. No button works when directly pressed. I clean out the ice maker compartment, but it still won't work. Is this poor refrigerator on its last legs? Any suggestions?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Jim
