Hi,
On a cve3400w, I'm replacing the dual infinite switch, and the instructions with the replacement part are very bad. The dual burner is working, but the other 3 are not. I don't have the old switch any more. I thought I had it all working before, put it back together, and threw the old switch away. Later I discovered the other 3 burners weren't working. Here is a link to the instruction sheet that came with the replacement part. It shows the markings from the old switch and how they map to the new switch. On the old switch, there were 2 red wires in a compound connection. I separated those and connected the incoming power wire to terminal P2. The other one I connected to terminal 2. If I tape the two wires back together and connect them both to P2, the 3 regular burners work again, but the dual burner does not work. I verified that there is power present on terminal 2 when the red wires are connected to their separate terminals. I have the jumper wire connected, but I've also tried it without the jumper and it doesn't seem to matter whether it is present or not, which doesn't seem to make any sense because without it there is nothing on the other side of the switch from terminal S2. Please help! Thanks. |

Well, I can see now how the power comed into each switch, and what wires go to the elements. The complicating factor is that a red wire that comes from the area of the dual element is daisy-chained among every switch until it ends at the dual switch, terminal 2. And exactly how that wire is connected to the incoming power, I don't understand. If I take that wire loose from terminal 2, apply power, and measure voltages, I measure 110v both on the bare terminal and on the end of that wire with it hanging loose. It seems like something is not connected to either red or black properly, but if I leave that red wire off, which is daisy-chained to all of the switches, then nothing works. If I connect that wire, then the dual element works but the others don't. If I move that wire so that it is recombined with the incoming red wire like it used to be, then the other three elements work, but the dual element does not.

I think I may have found a fault in my new switch, so please don't go to any effort until I try a new switch.
Thanks. |
