Maytag MSD2356AEW Fridge, Icemaker makes a grinding sound when you ask for crushed ice.
When you ask the Ice maker for crushed ice, the ice maker makes a grinding sound and no ice comes out. Sometimes it also does this when you ask for plain ice.
Any Ideas?

I'd first check to make sure you don't have a clump of ice jammed in auger blades or blade housing assembly. Just transfer the ice to another container to save it, then clean the out the ice container/auger/blades assembly or throw out the ice to start over.
If after you do this and it still does the same thing, then I'd say your auger motor is going out. Here's the auger motor for your model: Manufacturer's Number: 12001773 Jake
