Default Washer Problems

I have a Maytag washer that is Aprox. 6 years old. Mod# MAV7501EWW

Today we went to use the machine and it fills with water, but it does not agitate.

I hear a dim hum when we switch it to the agitate (wash) cycle, but no movement.

Every other cycle seems to be working fine.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Also.
I tried to spin the big pulley under the machine and it seems to only move in one direction!

You can check first to see if something is stuck under the agitator, just remove the fabric softener dispenser on the top of the agitator, then there should be a bolt that holds the agitator in, use a ratchet and socket, I believe its a 1/2" socket for the bolt, then the agitator pulls up.

If nothing is stuck under the agitator, then your transmission is the problem, on your model you have a 10 warranty on the transmission, for the part only, you would still need to pay labor to have it replaced from Maytag.
