I have a Maytag RSW2400EAE side by side and I am getting ice buildup in the fridge compartment by the freezer temp control and the food in the meat/deli tray is frozen. The defrost cycle is working(I manually cycle the timer and can hear the water sizzle). Any help? I have looked trough the forum and can't find a similar situation.

Take out your crisper's in the bottom of your refrigerator section and make sure your air return duct isn't clogged or blocked off.
If thats ok, then its possibly an air leak coming in and causing condensation to form up there and ice/frost over. Check your door gaskets for possible air leaks. Jake

I have an Admiral AS22N8D (12-13 years old) with this ice buildup in the last week or two. I just defrosted it and found this post. Here's what I think happened: We've had the air conditioner off and the windows open for several weeks (it's that time of year to save on power). The extra humidity in the house showed up there. Checked the air duct, it was OK. Looking around the door frame, I found a couple of strips of dust, which showed me where the air was being sucked in. I had replaced the door gasket a few months ago, and they lined up with a couple of spots where the magnet wasn't laying perfectly flat, but that I thought were good enough. So I did what I should have done, and warmed up those spots with a hair dryer and made them right.
We'll see... |
