Question [FIXED] MAH9700AWW Door Locked

Hi,

I believe my control board has failed (or door lock failed and caused control board failure) mid-cycle. I know I have power from circuit to control board; and I know the control sensor board has a good main switch but nothing lights up when pressing the switch to power up the board (i.e. digital display is out, etc.). Rumor has it that there is a tech trick (jumper, etc.) that can be performed on the board to trigger the door lock to unlatch, is this true? Of course, I would assume that if power isn't flowing from the power connection on the board then not much chance of having the trick work. Is there any other way to unlock the door?

Sorry for the loaded question but my wife is about to take an axe to the washing machine and me (hopefully in that order so I have some warning) if I can't get the clothes out that are really starting to stink up the joint

Washer Serial #: 10188505GA

Thanks for any info.
Rob

Hi Rob,

This model Maytag was made by Samsung, I can't help you on this model as I haven't worked on it before.

But I can link you to the tech. sheet:

Thumbs up

Hi Jake,

Thanks so much for the quick reply and great info. This is exactly what I needed (my wife has put the axe away for now )...the door is still locked but I performed the tests according to the instructions you provided links for and the basic voltage tests failed as expected on the board...not much I can do further beyond some basic Ohm tests.

I already have a replacement control and sensor board, and door lock being shipped. I would assume it is just the control board...but will have the other parts on hand if needed...

Thanks again. What a great site!

Rob

Lightbulb Manual method for unlocking a door

FYI

Discovered the manual method of releasing the door lock for this model washer when no power is available for the door lock switch due to bad control board, loss of A/C, etc.

1. Remove the top cover to gain access to the control assembly screws.
2. Remove the control assembly to gain access to the front panel screws.
3. Remove the front panel screws from top side of panel.
4. Slightly lift up on panel to get relief over tab on top side
5. Since panel is still sealed to drum do not stretch too far but you can access the door lock enough for the next step.
6. At the bottom of the door lock assembly is thin white plastic piece (the door lock assembly is black plastic); using a flat blade screw driver, needle nose pliers, or whatever tool you can fit in there, put downward pressure on the white plastic piece; it should move slightly down. You should now be able to open the door.

Received the new parts today, replaced the control board, and hooked everything up. Lights are now on. Except I forgot one important item...

When I was playing around with the door lock as I discussed above I had disconnected the 3 connectors to the lock. I didn't discover this until after getting everything screwed back together; I turned the washer on and it lit up, but then got a dS code when I tried to perform some tests in service cycle. I then removed everything I just put back together to get to the door lock and plug back in all the connectors.

In summary, its fixed.

Thanks again for providing the manuals and this website.

That's correct. Part# 34001496.

Also included in the kit was a new motion sensor to connect to R11.

Thanks again.
