Default Maytag MDBD850AWB sticks in rinse cycle

I have a Maytag MDBD850AWB that's sticking in the rinse cycle--won't finish and rinses forever. Drain/Off button will empty and shut it off. Is the control board/unit, sensor or ??? the likely culprit?
Thanks

Hi,

Are you using the heat boost option in the cycle at all? If you are turn off that heat boost and see if it runs through.

I've been on these models that will run forever if either the heating element or thermostat is bad.

Let me know what you find.

Seems to hang on Normal Wash and Light Wash. Tried Rinse Only just now and it shut off after 5 minutes. Haven't tried Heavy Wash, Delay/Resume. Not sure how you would select heat boost--there's a button called Accu Temp that I've never used, and button labeled 3 Sec that I have no idea what its function is. I will do a more thorough test--it may be that the rinse cycle is repeating itself...it was still going when I cam back after 50 minutes. I can tell you the water gets plenty hot--I got a faceful of vapor opening it.

The user's guide is pretty worthless and doesn't explain the function of some of the buttons.

Ok then

You'll want to ohm that thermostat out first, should read 0-1 ohm, its under the front of your dishwasher tub#16 here OR you can take the 2 wires off of it and use electrical tape to tape those 2 wires together to bypass the thermostat and see if it runs through the cycle thats hanging.(make sure you have the breaker off to your dishwasher first before touching the wires) :

Here's the thermostat for your model you can order if you need it:
Manufacturer part number 99001852 is RepairClinic item number 752128

Jake,

Also, if you happen to know...what DO the 3 Sec and Accu Temp buttons do? User guide gives few clues.

Accu Temp water heating: Selecting this option, enables the heating element to heat the wash water to the proper temperature.

I have never seen a 3 sec button, I have no clue what that does. Unless you hold that button for 3 seconds and it locks the control pad so kids can't mess with it.
