Default [FIXED] Maytag dryer never shuts off automaticly

I have a Maytag model LDG8000AAW, Serial A3332825HF Natural gas dryer that will run forever cooking the cloths if not manually shut off. The dial never advances.

I have a lamp timer connected to the plug for 2 hour timed drying. Ive been doing this for years. About 2 years ago I bought from ebay a used replacement timer/dial mechanism. No change. I am guessing that unit was defective or it was not the problem.

I've vacuumed excess lint from the vent many times throughout the years with no change in performance....so I stopped.

Im going to try and address a fix once again. Any ideas?

Ok, lets check the timer, put the timer on air fluff and see if it moves, if not then its the timer thats the problem.

Here's the timer for your model:
Manufacturer part number Y308221 is RepairClinic item number 1245992

I did a 10 minute air fluff and it advanced successfully with a buzzer at the end (haven't heard that in a while.)

Ok, then the timer is good.

Now when you say you have it on a lamp timer to turn off in 2 hours, why 2 hours? Normal loads should dry in 1 hr or less.

I always pull the dryer away from the wall, then take the exhaust hose off and test a load with just the warm air blowing directly out the back of the dryer, and wait about 15-20 minutes to see if the timer starts to move. Try that and let me know.

See, what makes the timer move in auto-dry is when the heater is NOT on, so thats why it moved good in air fluff.

So if you have a vent restriction in the exhaust hose going to the outside of your house, that heater will cycle on and off so fast that the timer can't move.

Yes, try the second test and let me know.

Even with the heaviest of loads, it should still dry in 1 hr. or less.

YES....the timer advances on regular dry cycle with vent unhooked punctuated with a buzzer again!

I suppose the issue is with the vent line?
