I have a 1 1/2 year old Maytag gas dryer. Average 3 loads per week. Legacy Series, Model #??? The dryer heats up for 5-10 minutes and then shuts off. I can hear the timer still ticking. This happens on a "timed dry" cycle and the "sensor dry" cycle. It will also happen on "no heat" and/or any heated setting too. All vents and lint trap is clean and dry. Please help!!! Thanks!! J

Thanks,
So when you say it stops heating after 5-10 minutes does the dryer continue to run and not heat or does the dryer shut down completely? I always pull the dryer away from the wall then take the exhaust vent off, then run a test load to see if it stays heating and running, just to make sure its not shutting off on the thermostat/thermal fuse. If it still happens then its possibly the motor thats bad. Here is the motor for your model: Jake

When it shuts down, everything except the timer ticking stops. No heat, and no motor running the drum. It all stops. This happens with the "no heat" setting too. I've tried it moved away from the wall with the vent unhooked, and still does it.
Thanks, I'll have the motor tested. J |

Ok, then its possibly the motor thats bad causing it. Because if it was the thermal fuse that was bad, it won't even come back on at all no matter how long you waited.
Keep us posted. Jake
