Default Jen Air JDB-5 Intermitent white film on glasses

    Model Number: JDB1100AWS
    Brand: Jenn-Air

    Greetings,

    Jen Air Dishwasher
    JDB-5
    1100AWS
    26269083GG

Intermittently, I get white film, pretty bad on my glasses, etc. Intermittent as in one time I took apart the lower section and did my best to clean the screen. But it is not really user cleanable as you can not get inside of it. Only try to push water through it and hope some of the stuff frees up from it and comes out the larger or smaller water holes. I also found some little bits of plastic wrapper. Between those two it seemed to work better.

Now it is back. I took it apart down to the disposal so I could again clean the screen in my sink. I found nothing else. No fish bones, plastic, saran wrap, etc. Ran two loads and just as bad.

I am trying vinegar and less soap this time around.

I have a Culligan water softer and my house water is pretty soft. I know. My skins itches like crazy in the dry MN winter if it is not.

I can call them out to check the water. I am using the blue bags of small crushed salt and it is full of salt for the last few months. Nothing really changed there.

Thanks for any help or ideas.
    Peace and Blessings

Also, is there more then one screen?
Can the Float be cleaned? Does not look like it is user adjustable or anything.
    I also use rinse aid.

    Thanks

Yes, sounds like your using too much detergent. Are you using liquid or powder?

Also, is there more then one screen?
    No.

    Can the Float be cleaned?
    No.

Also check the temperature on your hot water that goes into your dishwasher, should be at least 125-130 degrees.

You should order this as well:
Removes built-up soap scum and discoloration due to iron and other water impurities. Also works great in washing machines, porcelain sinks and porcelain tubs.
    Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer

This Jen-Air has never been impressive.

140 degrees at kitchen sink which it feeds directly off of.

I ran a very light load. Mostly the glasses that were foggy. Filled the soap about 1/4 way. Ran heavy duty load. Had a glass of vinegar on bottom rack and still the same thing.

Cascade Extra Action w/ 6.4% phos.

I took off the top rack's bottom spray-arm. The one that plugs into the back wall water supply when the rack is pushed in. Found it plugged up in about 4 locations. All clean now. But not convinced that this is the problem as I had glasses on bottom rack as well and same issue.

How much is the screen piece for this DW? It is self enclosed and I can only clean it so well. Would that help? Thinking it could.

    Thanks.

Don't think its the screen thats the problem,

Its possibly either your chopper blade is bad and came out of place or your impeller is bad, or worst case the motor bearing went out.

Here's a diagram of your pump and motor assembly:

You'll need to take off numbers 1,2,4,5,6,7 then you will be at your metal chopper blade, thats likely were its broken or out of place, possibly a seed or something hard that down in there and broke it.

Also check your impeller#6 to make sure the plastic isn't chewed up either.

Here's the repair manual for your model:
