Maytag Oven and Broiler Won't Light....ignitor checks out OK
I have a Maytag CRG9700CAE Range. The range top works fine, but the oven and the broiler were working sporadically and now almost never light. I have checked the hot surface ignitor for the oven and it is fine, even the parts store clerk checked it and said I didn't need to replace it. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated?

Sounds like the gas valve may be bad.
Your have a warranty on it from Maytag, since you say its under 1 year old.

Ok, thanks.
Now when you turn the oven or broil on now does the igniters get orange in color and glow?
If not, then its more likely the clock/oven control board thats bad.

Checked you recommendations
The oven ignitor does glow, but gas didn't flow. I checked ignitor and it was fine, replaced the gas valve and that allowed gas to flow, but it never ignited, it did ignite if I used a match and fill the house with a gas smell when I didn't. The range is a 1996 model and I'm not sure if the life cycle justifies continued repairs, but I would like to know what the problem is. Also I replaced the control board 3 years ago when it went bad.

How did you check your igniter? Did you ohm it when an ohm meter?

Checked the ignitor and had the guy at the appliance repair shop check it when i went in to buy a new one. It tested fine, and the rep at the counter could have sold me a new one, so I believe it when he says it tested out, 3 amps if memory is correct.
