Hi,
I have a 5+ year old Maytag side-by-side. The freezer part seems to be working okay but the fridge is not cooling its contents enough. I have defrosted the whole unit once already about 3 mths ago and it appeared to work for awhile after that. Now, the fridge is not cooling enough again. I also noticed that there is condensation in the lower part of the fridge where the vent from the freezer is. What is wrong with my refrigerator?Any help is appreciated. |

Checked around and inside the frzr/frdg and this is what we've found. The damper between the frzr/frdg was frozen over. Opened up the inside of the frzr back and found that the whole back side under the fan is cover with ice. Looks like the defroster is not working. Looking for the defroster time/thermostat now. Any ideas where the defroster timer/thermostat/itself is located for this model of Maytag (MSD2356AEW)?

G'day,

Ice might be a defrost cycle working but the water cannot get away, air leak, ice maker/water leak. Frost is more the defrost cycle is not working/comming on. Quote:
Defrost thermostat is attached to the cooling coils, the defrost heater is attached to the cooling coils block in the FZ section. Adaptive defrost control board Defrost heater and defrost thermostat assyhttp://www.applianceaid.com/adaptive_defrost.html jeff.

It was frost like snow around where the damper was. When I opened up the back of the FZ, the frost covered up most of the coils.

Tested the adaptive defrost control board from the instructions in the link you sent. The fridge did not shut off. Instead there was a fast buzzing noise coming from the adaptive defrost board. When we touched the test to L1 again, the buzzing noise seem to slow down. Does that mean that the ADCB needs to be replaced?
