Cool MTB2156GEW Fridge

Read great advice so far, so I'll try my luck!
Our fridge is just over 2 years old. It has been getting noisy as of late. I have cleaned the mechanics in back many times, and it is truly level. At kick in and out the compressor seems to be getting continually louder, and as of last week we are hearing these cracks and pops coming from it. I know the User Guide says they are normal but......??? Is it time for a service call, or might there be some advice for me to do something else to solve the issues. Thanks.

No, it should be fine, as long as the temperatures inside are normal.

I also own a Admiral Refrigerator which is made by Maytag, I noticed during certain times of the year, mine seems to make more of that same noise yours does, which is normal.

Thanks, Jake.
You know, after I cleaned, re-leveled and plugged it back in this morning, it has been quiet as it ever was. Do you think breaking the circiut had something to do with it?

Ok now Sat. morning. I'm getting very suspicious about the blower fan in the back of the freezer compartment. I have not heard, or seen it come on for two days now. I emptied the freezer, took the back panel off, and took a look. Except for a bit of frost accumulated on all the core and other parts all looks fine. The fan motor is in place but is able to swing within its mounting area. Is that normal?

There was quite a bit of thawing, and dripping, from the freezer door's handle side, as I was working on it. Should there be such a build up?

I tried adjusting both the temp controls trying to get the fan to kick in but with no luck.

Any more advice for me, or is it time for me to get a tech in?
Thanks, I appreciate your time.

Unhappy

Better add another udate!! Called a tech in my area. He asked for the 1st three letters of the model #, "MTB", then said it was more than likely the evapourator fan itself. Great, nice easy, fix-it-myself task. I found one, but can't pick it up until Monday.

Now Sat. evening, pretty sure the temps are having a hard time keeping up. More concerned with the fresh food compartment, which makes sense. Looks like it's hoovering around the low to mid 50's F. All I know is I want my beer to be colder than that, so they are now in my nice, cool, Canadian garage, where the rest of the food may be allocated to later tonight!

I did put some food into the freezer earlier this afternoon and it seems to be getting solid, but the ice cream was suffering a slow death. We decided to put it out of it's misery after dinner !!

Once again, any further advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DCor

No need to worry about the beer, hockey back on Sat. nights!

Ok, yea, sounds like that evaporator fan motor is shot, i advice people to buy about 10-20 pounds of dry ice till the repair is done, that will keep the food/beer cold.

Default Success!

No more trips to the garage!

I got the new fan yesterday, popped it in without any trouble.

Can't believe that part was $80.00Cdn.
I never thought I be dumping money into it two years in.
Think I may have any re-course with Maytag?

Well, Jake, thanks again for all the advice.
There's nothing that a bit of education can't help!

Don't think so, but never hurts to try!

Glad you got it going again!

Angry Maytag evaporator fans are poor

I have had this same refrigerator for less than three years and just today need my third evaporator fan (original died a little over a year ago and the replacement died last night). The fan makes noise for about a week and then dies.

I recommend not getting this refrigerator.
