Exclamation Maytag Washing Machine

Hi.
We have a Maytag Neptune Washer.
Model num: MAH3000AWW
We purchased it in 1999.
The washer has had repeated problems, but this is the worst: it stopped spinning. So we have just about given up on it as the repairs equal more than the value.
Do you have a suggestion?
Baker

Do you know which parts have been replaced on this since you have had it?

The early Maytag Neptune's had many problems: (main control board, motor control board, door switch, drive motor, mildew oder problem).

If something other than the belt broke, its not worth putting anymore money into it.

I am not an expert here like Jake, but I had the same reaction you have 'time to buy a new one' at first, but I am glad I inspected it first, and found that it was only a belt and pulley that needs to be replaced.

If you hear the motor whirling sound but no spining, I bet the belt is gone too. At least thats what happened to mine.

All the parts you listed were replaced, I'm pretty sure.
There is somthing called the wax motor wax somthing, well whenever we replaced it would work for a while, then quit.
We will look at the belt.
Thanks

Default Maytag Neptune Washer problems

We just purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer MAH9500.>>
This washer when in rinse and or spin shakes and walks all over our utility room. I leveled it moved it and tried just about everything to stop the violent shaking and waking this unit does. Is there any help you can give us to help remedy this situation and steady this washer. At the rate this unit shakes it won’t last a year, has damaged some walls, etc.
Thanks

Glad to help Baker!

The wax motor is what controls the door latch. I have replaced many of those.

Sounds like either the shocks are bad or the rear bearing is shot.

Jeff1 has a good webpage on the Neptune:

Brand new machine....was all the transit packaging removed by whoever installed it? There should be some info on how to do this in the paperwork you got with the machine.

Thanks for the response. I believe you were responding to our Maytag 9500 Spin and Shake problem.>>
I checked and all packaging material, per the info from Maytag, was removed. This washer is almost unusable in its present state. I called for repairs from Maytag. It's incredible that Maytag or any other manufacture of front loader washes didn't come up with a simple counter-balance system for these washers. >>

Please let us know the outcome - there's clearly something odd going on. These normally don't present a problem when brand new unless the shipping material is left in or they're used on a weak floor (mobile home, upstairs laundry room), but never as violent as you describe.
