Default [FIXED] door won't close -- latch?

    Model Number: MDB8951AWQ
    Brand: Maytag

Without warning, the door on our unit wouldn't close fully. Checked, and nothing in the way, etc. So it seems to be a problem with the latch. Here's the sequence:

Door wouldn't close, so pulled bottom basket. Still no go. Noticed female latch on door closed, so used a butter knife to push it open. Dishwasher began cycling (had wash cycle set previously), but door still wouldn't close. Latch on door stuck open.

So ... what the heck? Male latch on frame is fixed, so that's not the problem. Do I need to pull the interior face plate? Then what?

    Default This site rocks

Part came today (ordered it late Friday), and it took maybe 10 minutes to swap it out. Wife is very happy.

I hope you make a buck or two on this site, Jake, because it saved me at least $100, and these days that's a gift from the gods.
