Ice maker produces ice and fills the chute but the chute trap door doesn't open. Please help. thanks.

You will need to ohm the solenoid for continuity, check the solenoid plunger to make sure its moving properly. If one of these solenoid problem fail, then you will need a solenoid assembly.

In the end the problem was the ice door strike. The solenoid has a short metal arm that fits into a molded groove on the strike. The edge on one side of the groove had broken off. when the solenoid activated the metal arm slipped because it wasn't kept completely in the molded slot and consequently wouldn't open the door fully. Works great now.
