This fridge sucks! Nothing but problems! The latest.....The compressor started clicking every 3-5 minutes last night and this afternoon we noticed the freezer was no longer frozen, the ice had melted and puddled on the floor. I pulled off the back panel and felt the compressor to ensure this was where the clicking noise was coming from and confirmed this and noted that the unit was pretty hot. (Normal?) This spring we replaced the defrost control board to remedy a cooling problem, which I diagnosed and repaired thanks to your forum, thank you. Your thoughts on the clicking and the lack of cooling would be greatly appriciated!

Welcome back,
Sorry to hear your having other problems with your refrigerator. Check to make sure that condenser fan motor next to the compressor is running good and fast, make sure the condenser itself is clean. Your compressor relay/overload may have gone out or you may have a bad compressor, but that should be covered under your 5-10 yr. compressor warranty, check your owners guide, or Contact Maytag Jake

The compressor fan seems to be running fine. I sent off an e-mail to Maytag to check on the compressor warranty status, several days till I can get a response. What are the symptoms when the compressor relay/overload goes bad. Is that a simple fix? I guess I'm lucky in that I had old fridge in the shed to get me by for awhile!

When the compressor relay/overload go bad, it can either click every few minutes, or do nothing at all and won't start the compressor. If the compressor hums when it trys to come on, then clicks, thats usually a locked-up compressor.
