Success!

I was concerned at first. When I shorted the test pins, the unit shut off, but it seemed that the heater coils were not heating up right away. So, I put everything back together and gave it a few days.

After this waiting period, I took the back panels out in the freezer to check, and everything looks nice. No frost at all.

Thanks to all for your advice and assistance.

Jeff or Jake,

I have a similar problem of my MSD2756DEW. However, I could not remove the large cover at the top of the refridgerator compartment. I can detach the front end, butback end still connects.Could you provide detail about how to remove the the large cover at the top of my refridgerator compartment?

Thanks,

Yong

Hi,

Just pull the back-end up and forward to release those 2 clips on both back-end sides,Make sure those 2 screws on the middle top cover that screws to the refrigerator ceiling are removed as well.

Jake

Hey guys,

First post for me, just wanted to say thanks for the info in this thread - It described the exact problem I was having with my approx 5 year old Maytag, I opened up the freezer and defrosted, plopped in a new board and everything is cooling down right now as it's supposed to. The problem has been intermittent for at least a year, I was about to get a new unit and give up.

Thanks for the help!

-Jeff

okay, i'm more stupid than most. I too can't get the top cover off. I can see the clips in the back, but where are the screws holding the cover from sliding forward. I have the covers off the lights on both sides but don't see any screws readily accessible in the middle. There are two screws slightly behind the light openings into the ceiling of the fridge, but those appear to hold the lights apparatus, but the cover. What am I missing. Many thanks for the help!

Hi,

Stick your finger into the groove/cut out area at the back... lightly pull downward and forward at the same time... and don't worry, most of these give use headaches as well!

We have the same problem and will replace the defrost control board, but in looking for the problem, the small flap that controls the air flow from the freezer fell out (a spring and the door). Is there a trick to putting this back in?

What is #8 in this diagram? The post sticking out of this piece is what opens & closes the flap. How do you get the post to retract?

Hi,

**What is #8 in this diagram?**

Air damper control.

**The post sticking out of this piece is what opens & closes the flap. How do you get the post to retract?**

I usually remove the screws holding the control to the plastic housing to leave some slack to get the door and spting back into place.

Thank everyone for those posts. I believe that I have the same problem with my MSD2756DEW (which is about 5 years old). The problem started about 4 to 6 months ago when I noticed water under thefrige (outside) and ice inside the bottom of the freezer. The water would show every two to three days (after I cleaned out the ice inside). About three weeks ago, I opened up the back panel from inside of the freezer to check the leak. I saw a large chunk of ice in the upper right coner of the coil and rest of the coil was pretty clean. The drain pan (don't know if I should call it drain pan. This is the piece under the coil) was full of ice also. I also notice that there is a cube like thing which is covered with something like plummer's putty (gray color stuff) and a plastic cover. Half of the gray stuff has "melted" and dropped to the bottom and this might cause some kind of blockage. Anyway after all ice has melted, I put back the cover the leave the frige running. Now the refrige part is not cool enough and I opened the cover again and saw frost everywhere.

Question: how do I test if the ADC boardis working or not ?

Thanks
