Default MSD2957AEW SidexSide Fridge/Freezer Not Cooling

I own a MSD2957AEW Side by Side Fridge/Freezer and both fridge and freezer are not cooling. I have replaced Adaptive Defrost Control Board Part#61005988, and this has not resolved my problem. However, prior to replacing the Adaptive Defrost Control Board I called a service shop and was told that the probable cause was the Adaptive Defrost Control Board, and that the Heater and Thermostat would also be replaced if they did the work. I did not replace the Heater and Thermostat. I did not replace these parts because I could not figure what these parts are. Also, I reviewed the service sheet I did notice parts: Defrost Heater and Defrost thermostat. Could these be what he was referring to?

Can someone help me please? Did I purchase the correct part? Are there other troubleshooting steps?

Hi,

Was there any frost build up on the bottom inside freezer back panel or on the evaporator coil itself? Even the freezer is not getting cold at all?

Here is a link for defrost problems:

Here is a general refrigerator troubleshooting link:

Jake, initially there was a lot of frost in the freezer prior to Hurricane Rita. We left town because of Rita and when got back a week later there had been at least 2 days loss of power. Since then, the freezer does not have frost anymore,or doesn't at this time. I'll check again when I get home from work tonight. Note that the freezer now seems to be blowing cool air, not cold, and the fridge does not cool. I will check out those links and post my observations on this forum.=>Thanks

Ok, sounds good,

Check your compressor and condenser fan in the back too, make those are running good.

Keep us updated,

Jake

Status Update - The Maytag leaked or spilled water all over the floor yesterday. However, the freezer is cooling much better now and seems pretty cold. The fridge side doesn't seem cold enough. The temp setting has been set to COLD (all the way to the right). I'm wondering if the replacement of the Part#61005988 has restored the freezer side problem. Don't know what to do with the fridge side...

What should the tempature range be for the freezer and fridge?

Where should I start?

The temperature of the refrig. side should be 37-42 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Check your damper control in the refrig. side , make sure air is blowing out from the vent.
