Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW Wont drain or spin.
Brand:
Maytag
Age:
6-10 years
It was making a squealing sound while it was in the washing cycle, then stopped in the middle of the wash cycle. Now it will not spin or drain. It will work in rinse mode but all that does is add more water without draining. It sometimes will make ticking noises as it seems to be going into a spin cycle then hums, then cuts off. Any ideas guys? Ive messed with the lid switch some but that seems not to be the problem. I need to get the water out of it so I can fix it or get rid of it....

Sounds like something is stuck/clogging your water pump.
You'll need to either siphon the water out, or use a wet/dry shop vac to get it out, then tilt your washer back enough to look underneath it and take the belt off and turn the water pump pulley, it should turn freely.
Whats the serial# of your washer?
Here's a help link to access the inner parts:
Maytag Atlantis washer, how to take apart for servicing
Here's the water pump for your model you can order if your serial# starts with 25 or lower:
Manufacturer's Number: 35-6465

Here's the water pump for your model if the serial# of your washer starts with 26 or higher:
Drain pump assembly. *Redesigned - no mounting plate - pump mounts directly to base of the washer.
Manufacturer part number 35-6780 is RepairClinic item number 1480294

Ok I have the same problem. When I tilt the washer up and manually move the belt...It only spins one direction...Is this right or should the belt move both directions?

So, my Maytag Atlantis will not spin or drain and was screeching prior to the shutdown. A clicking sound was heard when I tried the spin setting after finding a tub full of wet clothes. I took off the hoses and water was in both...seemingly unobstructed as it poured out onto me and the floor. Then I tilted the dryer up and noticed the belt had been rubbing against the pulley on the top left leaving some black dust (that was now black mush mixed with wet dryer lint) on the floor and seemed to have melted a little inside the belt track. The belt only moves clockwise. What do I need to order to resolve this in your opinion?
Thanks for your help

Ok, with the belt off turn all the 3 pulleys both ways and see which one is not turning both ways.

There you go, you found the problem.
You'll need a new water pump, order it from the link above. Or post your model# and I'll make sure thats the correct one for yours.
