buzzing/humming sound
Brand:
Jenn-Air
Age:
6-10 years
My refrigerator has been making a buzzing/humming sound for about 30 minutes. It stops completely whenever I open a ref or freezer door but then starts up again a few seconds later. I do not hear any clicking sound. On the advice of this board, I had my sealed unit replaced about 6 months ago--it was very expensive, so I am obviously frustrated at my new problem. Any idea?
quick update: the noise appears to be coming from the area where the ice maker is. But the ice maker is off and has been off for months. There is some frost build up on some of the shelves. The fan is running a lot and the top panel of the machine is hot. I turned everything off--not sure if there was right but I don't want to do more damage.

Thanks Jake--I ended up turning it on before bedtime last night. I woke up to no more noise and a 38-0 read on temp. Do you think there is a problem with the fan or was that extended peiord normal?

Sounds like we've got the same problem although I'm further along with it. The evaporator pan is freezing over and water is dripping onto the fan area and freezing causing noise. This will eventually come down into the entire freezer area and build up. I've had several things replaced including the entire pan and still it has not solved this. Can someone help us out on this? Thanks!

After the initial day of the buzzing noise, everything seems to be working great now. So I wonder if this was just temporary or if there is more to come later.
