It could be something as simple as something caught in the pump. Start there.

Do what Rick suggests first.
Here's the repair manual for your model:

Here's the drain pump for your model:
Drain Pump and Motor 25001052 Order now for same day shipping. 365 day return policy. RepairClinic.com
I've seen lots clog up or the drain pump motor just lock up and not turn the impeller inside it.

Our Maytag Neptune is now 14 years old. From time to time I have had to remove the pump assembly and open it up to clean the clogged impeller. After my wife did some old blankets with dog hair on them - it was not working well at all. It seems that every year we have a problem and lately it is has become worse.
The problem was in the drain hose... build up of GUK happened within the hose itself. Plus where the hose exited the machine there was now definite kink that seemed permanent (perhaps from putting things behind the washer - or the hose simply has aged and is not as pliable now.
I bought a new "universal hose" today... the pumping action sounds much more powerful now and water is emptied very quickly.
Further - I took the water supply hoses off as well (not done for many years.) Water tank in our home was changed, water lines were worked on out on the street... and garbage was in the lines a number of times. The sieve at the wall connection and on the back of the washer were about 90% plugged - like the machine was about to have a heart attack!
Changing all of these seems to have made a new machine for us and it is purring wonderfully now and my wife is smiling!!!!
