Evaporator fan running after compressor turns off
Brand:
Maytag
Age:
Less than 1 year
I'm sure there is nothing wrong with our new French door Maytag, but I'm just curious about the evaporator fan. It seems to run non-stop, including when the compressor is cycled off. Compressor on/off time seems normal (just based on general observation)
This model also seems to have a separate evaporator fan up in the icemaker, and it seems to stay on as well.
Can anyone confirm if this is normal, and if it is, should they ever turn off?
I've looked for some good service documentation (including all those job-aids that Whirlpool puts out), but I couldn't find anything. I haven't located the service sheet either, which I thought was usually behind the front air grille.
Thanks

Yes, that's normal. With the use of thermistors and an electronic control/power board the compressor doesn't need to run as often making it energy efficient.

Just to make sure I'm clear, its normal for the evaporator fan to run continuously?
My 10 yr old fridge had thermistors and a control board, but the evap fan cut off with the compressor. Just trying to understand whats normal for this new fridge.
thanks.

I know it's normal for the evaporator fan to continue running after the compressor has shut off on some models. Call the customer service number that came with yours.
