Default Maytag Dishwasher Blinking Lights

Model Number: MDB5600AWW
Brand: Maytag
Age: 1 -5 years

We have a Maytag QuietSeries 100 that we bought a year ago. I opened the door when the dry cycle was still on. After I unloaded the dishwasher, the door wouldn't shut and several of the lights were blinking. I read other posts and turned off the power for different lengths of time. That hasn't worked. I do not have the user's manual for some reason--every other manual for the last ten years, but not that one. Can you tell me why it won't latch shut? Thanks.

Hi,

It sounds like that latch is stuck in a closed position, get a screwdriver and try to pry that middle piece forward or back-wards slowly, Maytag has had a issue with these latches, you will eventually need a new latch.

Default Maytag DW Blinking Lights

Thank you for responding!!! I've tried coaxing the plastic center piece forward and backward and it won't budge. Shall I apply a little more pressure? If it will be going out anyway, I don't have a lot to lose... Thanks again.

Sure you can give it more pressure.

Jake--Thanks so much for your advice. More pressure, and using a small pair of needle-nose pliers to pull the middle piece forward worked to get the door working. If this happens again, I'll be purchasing the latch. Will I be able to replace it myself, or will I have to call in a professional? Thanks again for all your help. This site it great!
