Default Same Problem- additional question

When I cleared out the drain by pulling the rubber "L" off, a little plasitc dowel, about 1 and 1/2 inches long was in there. Is it supposed to be? Where might it have come from?

Does it look like either 1 of these 2 parts?
Tube, drain
Part#61004751

Hose, drain
Part#61003133

If you can take a picture of it and upload it, that would help us to see.

Well, I'm hoping that this thread just saved me some dollars on a service call. Our side-by-side had been puddling water about once a day, so after reading this thread I followed the instructions, and sure enough the drain was iced up. I've removed the ice, and cleared the drain tube. I'm hoping that the cause of the icing was a plastic bag containing food that had been accidently placed across the air vents in the top of the freezer section. Fingers crossed.

In the mean time, thanks to all who have provided advice and suggestions in this thread.

Question Model MSD2756AEW freezer water leak problem

We are experiencin gthe same problem associated with the drain freezing. we have tried the hot water approach, but there isn't any drip pan so we are unsure how much water is required to clear any blockage. Is a diagram available for this refrigerator?

Yes, there is a drain/drip pan, but you just can't see it well from the front, and its non-removable.

Here is the diagram of it:
http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImageP...&titleID=00001

#16 is the drip pan.
#25 is the drain outlet in the bottom rear of your freezer.

Sometimes that ice in the drain takes some time to clear, keep with the hot water through it, you can also run something through it, like a cooler spider snake: http://www.azpartsmaster.com/shopazp...LR4690%29.html

Smile Maytag freezer leaks

Thanks for the info. The hot water seems to have cleared the line so far.

Thank you chaps for an excellent site my Maytag GC2227CDFB has been dripping for a few weeks and even after a defrost it was leaking again in a few days, so thought it has to be something like a drain, people do not realise that firdges need to drip and recycle. Anyway called Maytag in the UK , but what a cost £350 for a years warranty or approx £130 call out +++ to be fair the chap did say check for broken pipes.....your site is better when i poked down teh drain hole gently out cam a load of fluffy stuff, then the pipe flowed great, My $5 donation saved me $700 wow. worth it.
