Default maytag performa - washer spins, but clothes still too wet

We have a Maytag Performa washer, model PAV2200AWW rev10. The problem is that the clothes are too wet after the spin cycle. The tub does spin, but it doesn't sound like it speeds up as fast as it used to. The belt appears to be fine. Nothing sounds strange. We bought it new in 1999 and do ~10 loads a week.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

    More kinda guesses...

Clothing caught between the tanks, bad transmission, bad thrust bearing, brake hanging up are some possible trouble makers.
