Default Maytag Performa Walking

Greetings Everyone.

I have a Performa going on six years old, that has given us continously good service under an extreme load.

For the last couple of months, it seems I can't keep it level. Even when I level everything up, it will start throwing itself around on the spin cycle. If you painstakingly level the clothes within, many times lifting them up off the bottom of the tub where they are compressed and drop them back in, it temporarily cures it. But this has gone on far too long.

Is this machine repairable? Or is whatever is wrong too costly to have a tech come out and repair?

Many thanks in advance for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Jack

Hi,

It sounds like your snubber has gone bad. Its a major job to replace this and very costly if you have it done by an appliance repair company.

If you do it yourself, I would recommend buying the Service Manual to guide you.

Thanks for your reply Jake. Not being a technician myself, sounds as though it's time for a new one. Would you still recommend the performa? I'm looking to stay in the same price range. If this is unethical to answer publicly, I understand. Once again, thanks for your reply.

The Maytag is very good, The Whirlpool and Kenmore are about the same price range and are good too!
