Maytag A712: change washer timer or timer motor?
Brand:
Maytag
Age:
More than 10 years
I've had a Maytag A712 washer for a long time. (It was here when I moved in 11 years ago)
Using the left hand side of the dial or "REGULAR FABRICS" side of the dial. It stops before the rinse cycle; If I push in, advance the dial abit and then pull it back out it resumes.
It will then stop again before the spin cycle; If I lightly push down on the knob, the washer will thump & click abit and then start to spin/drain and complete the cycle.
It's done this for a little while and I've been able to live with it.
Recently though, it has done all of the above and then after a brief pause, will continue on past the 12 o'clock/stop position and to the Right hand side or "PERMANENT PRESS" side and start a whole new wash cycle.
How do I know if I need to change the $56 TIMER MOTOR or the $156 WASHER TIMER (which I think includes the TIMER MOTOR)?
Or am I on the wrong track and need to change something else?
