Question Jenn Air Fault Code F1-8 Confusing!!

    Model Number: JGS8850ADS
    Brand: Jenn-Air
    Age: 6-10 years

Ok according to Jake's fault codes, F1 is either the touch pad or clock assembly. How do you know which one is it?? No offence but these parts can become very expensive to just replace via trial and error. Secondly what is the -8 for???

Please advise before I order parts. Thanks!!!!!

    Hi,

    Don't listen to Jake! ( kidding ).
    I have:

F1:-8 Keypad Shorted Check to see if steam or other moisture is getting into clock assembly. Replace keypad if necessary

You're a good man Jeff. If Im not mistaken, there are a couple of screws on the side of the panel that help remove the entire front panel.

BTW is this a Canadian or US site??

    jeff.

There must be moisture getting behind the touchpad or even on the touchpad that is shorting out the pad. This is the 3rd time I've had to get it replaced. First 2 times was under warranty. The touchpad is right above the oven door and obviously the heat from the oven must be getting in (design flaw perhaps). Is there anything that I can do to trap any moisture from getting in. I noticed when I just opened the front control panel assembly, it was pretty bare at the bottom. perhaps some insulation or something to prevent any moisture getting in.

    Your thoughts.

BTW it was more than a couple of screws to remove the pad!!

USA site, I am in Canada.
Not too much problems with moisture from cooking ( some of course ), but many problems with people cleaning the key panal....not suppose to use windex either.
For the most part, screws underneath, screws under the knobs, screws at the sides and it comes off.
