This refrigerator just won't roll over and die so I can call Maytag. After it quit cooling this last time I shut the unit down (temp slide to off but still plugged in) and let it sit for a couple of days then started it up, again. That was four days ago and it is still working fine. The track record is that it seems to work about a week or so and then quit cooling. Why would the compressor (if it's bad) work for a week or so and then quit? Are we missing something, is something else going on?

Unfortunately Compressors can be intermittent in working just like everything else. Don't know what else to tell you but, next time it dies, don't unplug it, don't turn the control knob, just call Maytag.
