Default Maytag Refrigerator MSD2454GRW Serial# 1328... FF Not Cooling

Okay I have looked at several web sites and found information not specific to my model. My 4.5 year old side By side freezer was cold and my other side (FF) is not cold. I found some frost/ice on my Freezer back wall. I opened it up and found heavy ice all over the coils. I used a hair dryer to manually defrost it and put it back together. The fan in the freezer is working. In the outside rear bottom, the compressor and fan are working. So what parts need to be replaced and how should I test them.
I do not see any electrical parts under the control cover in the refrigerator at the top. If it is there, it is under some other stuff that does not look too easy to remove. Current status is everything seems to be cooling again but I suspect the cause of the problem is still there and I will likely need to replace some parts to keep the problem from reoccuring.
Help will be appreciated.

Default Now cooling is better but not sure if right

After completely defrosting cooling cools and checking any other areas like the return vent behing the vegetable drawer and the air vent at the top, the refrigerator is set to 7 with the freezer set to 6. I am getting an inside refrigerator reading temp of 44F with the freezer seeming to be fine since it is making ice with no problem. Is the temp correct? I thought it should be around 35F. There is a temp control part listed in the parts list that seems to impact the air flow vent. Is that a part that might need to be replaced also?

The normal refrig. temp is 36-40.

Did that thread I posted apply to your problem?

Is your Evaporator coils frosted up?

My evaporator coils were frosted (actually completely iced up before I completely defrosted them using a blow dryer) per my first post. They are fine now - at least there is no visible frost on the back panel of the freezer. I have not removed the back freezer panel again since Saturday when I took it apart to defrost it. I turned the FF temp to 7 and now my refrigerator temp is 40F. I also checked the air temp blowing into the FF at the top left rear and top left front where I inserted the thermometer into the styrofoam vent at the top left front and the air temp was 0F.
So my thoughts are that maybe the evaporator fan is weak. It is working and making no funny noises but maybe the fan is not blowing enough air into the FF or maybe the air control part that pushes the vent plastic flap closed is not letting the flap open enough to let enough air flow into the refrigerator. It is definitely not blocked and air is flowing.

I have one other question - when I took the freezer rear panel off to defrost the eveaporator coils, I noticed an aluminum round hollow rod that is inserted into the coils from back to front. It came out and I am not sure I put it back into the right place. I have it inserted so that it touches the top of the aluminum drip pan. If I put it one row higher it would be touching the plastic rear of the refrigerator. Where is it suppose to go? What is it for? I did not see it shown in any parts diagrams.
