    Default dishwasher starting

I have a Maytag dishwasher model PDBL390AWB it is not very old.I washed a load of dishes with it set on normal,or so I thought. Is it possible for the machine to come on on it's own?I loaded the dishwasher, and was going to wash the dishes in the morning. When I got up the dishwasher was very hot and had been heating/drying all night.I did not set it to start. What could have happened?

    Hi,

It sounds like either the relay on the control board stuck open or you have a faulty circuit.

If you want to fix it yourself, this manual will help guide you:

Thank you for the quick reply. After checking the unit more closely what I found is that the dishwasher cycles are not coming on,only the heat element. The only way to make the element go off is to open the door.Even when the dishwasher is not on the heat element is.

    Yes,

Sounds like a grounded heating element more than anything, but the only way to tell is to turn the power off to the dishwasher, then ohm the heating element to ground, with an ohm meter, to see if you get continuity.

If no continuity, then the problem is in your control board.
