Default Maytag Washer Legacy Series

My 1 year old washer is making a loud squeaking noise during the spin cycle. I have had the repairman out 4 times and they can not find the problem. One bushing was replaced and different items lubricated, but the sound continues. Now I’m being told that I’m just too picky. Sound is loud enough to be heard throughout the house even with the laundry room door closed and the house is not small.
I purchased this washer to replace my 15 year old Maytag…..should have kept it. Purchased from Home Depot, Heavy Duty commercial Quality, Quite plus.
Anyone have issues with this model? Any suggestions to help are appreciated.
p.s I also found out that if they replace it through my extended warranty program I purchased through Maytag, that I would get a GE model not a Maytag. Guess I should have read the micro print on the back. :0(

4 times? I could help you, but I would need to hear the sound myself, could be your water pump, transmission, belt, etc.

Hopefully someone with the same model as you, and same sound will post a solution here that would help.

Default Legacy Series

I have exactly the same problem and have actually gotten tired of the repairmen coming out and finding nothing. It is coming from the disc that the tub sits on on the bottom so I bought a new disc but haven't had time to replace it yet. My wife is also complaining about the automatic lint filter that saves the lint and puts it on her dark clothes, any problem with that?

Thanks for the info. I have the repairman coming out again this morning and I will pass this info on. I have not had issues with the lint filter or I should say my wife has not told me about it anyway. Thanks John

Repairman came out today. Found two cracks in the "milking stool" frame. The crack were 2" long on one side and about 1/2" long on the other. They were right over and through the spot weld points. Anyway, the stool was replaced and everything seems to be working as it should now. I hope this has fixed the problem. Thanks to those who replyed and offered some insight. John

Default Disk

I am not sure if it was a Disk that was replaced. The part was showen to me, but it looked more like an upside down stool. That is why the repairman called it the "Milk Stool". Anyway that part had several small cracks that where difficult to see until the machine was taken apart. Those little cracks would make an very unpleasant sqeaking sound when the machine was in a spin cycle. It was driving my wife and I nuts and the repairman thought we were being too picky until it got so bad that whenever we would run the washer it made the sound. So we had it singing it's song when he showed up for the 5th time and the rest is history. We have not had that sound again now for about 2 weeks now, so I think it is fixed.
Sorry, but all I can say is that the repairman stated the Milk Stool had some small cracks in it. He did not call it a disk.
Hope this helped. John
