Default Maytag Wide by Side 5 years old and not cooling

I have a Wide by Side that I purchased new barely 5 years ago. All of a sudden the refrigerator temp was in the 50's. Repairman came out and replaced the defrost board. Still had temps in 50's. He came back and replaced another part, got down to 50 but no lower. He came Friday and, again, took panel off in freezer and used hair dryer to get ice off (e has done this each time), now on Sunday, temp is 42 on top shelf. I don't think this is satisfactory. I was told the top shelf should be 37 or 38 degrees. Is this correct or should I be satisfied with the 42?

I was hoping, before this breakdown to sell this fridge and buy the new French Door model. Now I am terrified to buy another Maytag ANYTHING! And I am afraid to sell this one as I will be selling a faulty unit.

Are Maytags just bad now or what? I thought I was buying a really good unit when I bought this one.

These models did have alot of faulty defrost boards, and I myself know how important it is to have all the ice from behind the evaporator coil cleared out, or it won't cool the refrig. side properly.

42 is alot better, give it another 24 hours to stabilize, then it should be back to about 37 or 38.

Maytag is still a good product, I have every in my house Maytag except the dishwasher, which came with my house as a Kenmore.

My Maytag refrig. runs excellent since I bought it new in 1999.

Thanks, Jake. Yesterday it hit 39.4 so maybe it is finally on the right track.

One reason I was so concerned is that I am ready to replace the fridge and range with more Maytag and was hoping I was not making a mistake!

Glad to help.

Yes, buying another Maytag should be fine.
