Thanks for your valuable information.
I read all of the posts on this common problem (diff. models) The coils in freezer are clear except on the right there are small blocks of ice. Am defrosting now. Took ice off the blue flap (like a plastic window) on the box where the air comes into the fridge side. The plastic window was frozen on the bottom to the box. Was this my only problem, or could it be the Defrost Timer issue as I had concluded from the other thread? Should I just try to run it after I defrost and see if it's ok or do you see trouble coming? Model# MSB2354GRW Side by Side, no ice maker Purchased 7/03 Defrost timer part is #68233-2 This looks different than the Adaptive defrost assembly referred to in other posts, but I assume its the same function. Thanks for your time and any advice you can give. |

Hi,
Your model has the mechanical defrost timer. Yes, it does the same function. With that plastic window flap you found stuck, that might have caused the issue you have, that part is the return air flow to properly circulate the air throughout the freezer & refrigerator. If it happens again you may need a new return air duct. Jake

I've had it plugged back in for about 18 hours and it seems to be cooling fine now; The coils just have that thin frost, like you said was okay.
I was all set to buy that Defrost timer, but it's good to have the info in case it goes out. Thanks for your help and info; it gives us more confidence when facing these appliance problems. ![]() |
